EAST LOTHIAN

East Lothian is a wealthy county. Much of the wealth being derived from the finance sector in Edinburgh and much still from the old money - the Aristocracy.

The three biggest estates in East Lothian being owned by a Lord, a Duke and an Earl. If these estates are not large by comparison with their Highland counterparts, you can bet your bottom dollar that they are worth a damn site more. Land prices in East Lothian are healthy.

Almost 35% of the county is in the private hands of barely 25 estates.
