AYRSHIRE

The largest lowland county and first class farming land.

There are no huge estates such as occur in the Highlands but still some 30% of the county is in the private hands of some 70 individuals and the ubiquitous trusts.

It is good to see public bodies having 15% of the land and one would hope to see this trend increase.
