  • A graduate of Glasgow School of Art, Ishbel has been living and working at Balnakeil Craft Village for nineteen years.

  • The Earl's Palace was built in 1574. Robert Stewart was the Earl of Orkney but did not manage to finish the Palace. His son Patrick completed it. There were three towers and a large open courtyard in the centre. There are lots of interpretive signs and information about the Palace throughout the ruin. Entrance is free.

  • Balnakeil Church and Graveyard

    This Church and Graveyard is very interesting. The original church was built in 722 by St. Maelrubha. Apart from the monuments within the Graveyard itself, the church has some interesting inscriptions which may be from the grave of a notorious villain Domhnuall MacMhurchadh
