  • When we visited Lochinver for the first time we were totally soaked and desperate for a cup of tea. It was gone six o'clock and we also needed a bank and fuel. We had ridden round the shore road from Kylesku to Lochinver, a very enjoyable and exciting trip with 25% gradients and wonderful views.

  • I had been told that we might not get a good reception at accommodation providers when we arrived in motorbike gear, but am please to say that this was the first Bed and Breakfast we tried and they were brilliant - our boots were placed under the radiator to dry out and they were very helpful.

  • We fueled up and headed to the Fishermen's mission. What a friendly welcome we had. Towels were provided (without asking) so that we could dry ourselves off, our gloves were put into the tumble drier and we were able to purchase a good hot meal and hearty mugs of tea.

  • On the opposite corner from the Assynt Visitor Centre is the Village Hall. It is one of the places to which the locals flock for ceilidhs, concerts, meetings etc. Visiting musicians and theatrical groups come to Lochinver as part of their national tours, on a regular basis.
