AGRIBUSINESS
AgriBusiness is really suffering from payback
time. First it was BSE and the horrific prospect of millions of
British people being infected with "new variant CJD".
Now, because of the lack of investment in
order to attain EU standards, the outbreak of Foot and Mouth disease
is threatening to heap insult upon injury for the farming community.
Why lack of investment?
Because "AgriBusiness" was not prepared
to invest in the abbatoir standards which Europe demanded. Local
abbatoirs closed and livestock is now routinely shunted from one
end of the country to the other for "economic" slaughter,
instead of being slaughtered locally.
So, when a disease like Foot and Mouth raises
it's ugly head, it is bloody impossible to know who has been where
with what.
More wholesale slaughter.........But never
mind .... here's Renfrew ....
