PUBLIC MONEY AND PRIVATE HEALTH

Health Care International was a private sector, state-of-the art hospital, built in Clydebank in the early 90's, to attract wealthy middle eastern clients.

Unsurprisingly, it went bust.

Who in their right, and very rich mind, would go to Clydebank for treatment, when for the same money, San Diego, San Francisco, Rome, Vienna, and many other more temperate climates and beautiful locations were available ?

Now though, the Westminster government has announced that the private sector, both in Britain and in Europe, will be used to reduce waiting lists for NHS patients in England and Wales.

This has caused a Scottish Parliamentary row because NHS patients from other parts of the UK are being sent to Clydebank (HCI) and Scottish patients do not have the same option.
