The alternative guide to Scotland

Welcome to the FirstFoot Alternative Guide to Scotland (FAGS). FAGS is an open-source project intended to build a consumers guide to Scotland from the perspective of the people who experience it. That means native Scots and our visitors from overseas and across borders.

As an open-source project the data compiled here will be made freely available to any other Website, individual or organisation who requests it. The purpose of this open-source project is the dissemination of knowledge about Scotland. The project will be many times more successful if the knowledge is available in more than one place.

You can be an important part of this project. If you have an experience of Scotland (good or bad) that you would like to share, whether it be a restaurant, your local pub, a particular walk, a tourist attraction …. whatever …. let us know about it. Click on the “Add a Review” link below. A form will open that will enable you to send us your opinions. We will then enter them on the database.

Or you can simply enjoy the efforts of the people who have already contributed to this project and browse the current reviews.
