In the early 1930's the Neil clan was
to be found almost exclusively in the enclave of Auchenshoogle.
Built on a shale bing, this deprived,
and some might say depraved, hamlet concealed a terrible secret:
It was the site of the earliest known
nuclear accident. This has never been revealed to the British
public and is a worldwide FirstFoot exclusive.

Effy and Eck Neil lived unhappily
in Auchenshoogle. They were blissfully unaware of the terrible
contamination surrounding them. They first realised that
problems might exist when their son Andrew was born - the
boy was horribly disfigured.
In a small place like Auchenshoogle,
it is difficult to hide secrets. The Neils' moved to Paisley
for anonymity. Seeking the best medical help available,
the Neils' opted for radical surgery to transform their
beloved boy into something approaching a normal human being.
Years of surgery and the finest minds
that could be applied have failed to successfully accomplish this objective.
Andrew Neil is still as ugly today as he was all those years
ago in Auchenshoogle.
