The fiancee of former Fourth Lanark
wonderkid Duane Looney spoke out this week at her “anguish
and shock” over the revelations that her teenage soccer
star partner had engaged in sordid sex acts with several prostitutes.
In an exclusive interview with FirstFoot,
Doreen McLaughin, 19, revealed that the player, recently signed
by Madchester Rovers in a £27 million deal, begged her
to forgive him for his behaviour.
During an emotional “clear the
air” meeting with Doreen’s family, the precocious
Looney pledged that the seventeen visits to brothels had all
been “one-offs” and that none of the £45 a
time prostitutes had meant anything to him.
Looney had originally denied the accusations
of his sordid liasons until CCTV footage came to light which
clearly showed him playing away from home with a 48 year old
slapper dubbed by locals as “the old boot of Bootle”.
From the living room of her parents’
two bedroom terraced slum in Toxteth, Doreen told FirstFoot
that in spite of everything she had decided to forgive the
wayward star, who is expected to earn in excess of £4
million in the coming year.
“It was just a silly mistake, that’s
all, and I know that Duane bitterly regrets being caught.
All I want to do now is concentrate on the future and helping
Duane to manage on his new salary of £50,000 a week.
And besides, he was so sorry he gave me a 30 grand car –
how could I not accept an apology like that?.”
Brave Doreen is now expected to give
up her £60 a week hairdressing job to look after Looney
in Madchester.
The wayward Looney, who has often been
described as having “a face like a smacked arse”
was unavailable for comment. Doreen’s father Ron summed
things up, however, saying that his daughter was “a saint
with a heart of pure gold.”
“Why she should want to get back
together with a pug ugly, whore-shagging, lying little millionaire
is a mystery to me. I can’t understand it at all. She
must see something in him though, and if staying with the
filthy rich scumbag and living a life of luxury is what she
really wants then it’s a decision I just have to respect.”
