| Scottish "Justice"
Minister - Kathy Thickbucket |
|
In a refreshing show of openness and
contrition, Scottish Justice Minister Kathy Thickbucket
today acknowledged that serious cases of misidentification
and possible corruption had occurred within the Scottish
Criminal Records Office (SCRO), the home of the Scottish
Fingerprinting Service.
Only kidding. What we actually got
was prevarication and arse-covering of Herculean proportions.
Ms. Thickbucket, who had set a world
record for the number of refusals for media interviews about
the SCRO, was addressing the Scottish Parliament. In a lengthy
statement, which was mainly bullshit and flannel, she
never once mentioned the various reports and investigations
by Scottish Police officers and international experts that
stated that malicious and false evidence had been fabricated
by the service and that several members of staff may be
guilty of perjury.
Neither did she mention that she and
the First Minister may have known of this for more than
two years.
Neither did she explain why the Scottish
Executive waited until the last minute to pay out £750,000
to an ex-police officer falsely accused of a crime because
of the allegedly criminal behaviour of Scottish Fingerprints
Service staff.
Neither did she concede the case for
a public inquiry.
She did however concede that mistakes
had been made in identification. FirstFoot.com, in another
world exclusive, is proud to be the first to publish one of
these acknowledged errors.

Perhaps we have all learned to be
cynical about politics. But perhaps we were also expecting
a little more from our Parliament.
Not now.
Now the Scottish parliament can claim
to be as good as the Westminster one when it comes to lying.
It just hasn't taken them as long to get there.
