The hypocrisy of politicians knows no bounds.
Even FirstFoot, a great admirer of the late Donald
Dewar, was shocked by the contents of the great man's diary.

Dewar
- Teenage drug abuser
|
Written in 1953, when Donald Dewar was 16, the diary
provides the first evidence of his use of hard drugs.
Today, most parents are educated to look for tell-tale
signs of drug and substance abuse by their teenage offspring.
Commonly, an indication of amphetamine or cocaine use is an impromptu
nosebleed.
In the 1950's, drug use was most common amongst
musicians and entertainers. However, the middle classes of Glasgow
were blissfully ignorant of the existence of drugs and would have
no idea how to spot a "druggie". Otherwise, young Donald
Dewar would have been in for a right skelping.
We quote verbatim from the extracts from his diary:
August
4th, 1953
Blah,
blah, blah ... On returning, my nose bled, the third time in one
week.
August 5th, 1953
Blah, blah, blah . I went to see Dr Gavin
about my nose: he discovered some blood vessels on the middle
of the nose that caused bleeding. He cauterised or burned them
but, thanks
to the cocaine, there was no pain.
Not only does Dewar take drugs, but the wee
bleeder has the temerity to boast openly about it.
The shame, the scandal, the disgrace ........
