Well, it's a wee bit late, but better let the conventional press have their say first........

We are now into the second year of the Scottish Parliament and what have we achieved ?

Well, from the FirstFoot perspective; next to bugger all. We have succeeded in emulating the negative adversarial politics of Westminster and produced a Parliament of very little note.

Apart from ......... step forward a certain Mr. Tommy Sheridan.

On his own, against formidable opposition and some shameful lack of support from mainstream political parties, especially the Labour Party in Scotland, Tommy Sheridan has successfully steered through legislation which will abolish one of the most shameful aspects of Scottish life ......... the Warrant Sale.

For many Warrant Sales may mean nothing. But for the poor of Scotland, the ignominy and disgrace of a warrant sale was devastating.

Imagine ......... you could not meet your bills ... the Sheriff Officers came along and emptied the contents of your house onto the pavement in front of your house and sold them there and then ................ It used to be a common feature of Scottish working class life, advertised in the press ...... come along to number 24 Langbank, they are struggling, make it harder for them, buy what little they do have at a knock down price ........... yowzer, yowzer .............. legalised public empoverishment and humiliation.

This is the Twenty First Century and Tommy Sheridan's commitment is applauded !!!
