A. N. Other - Scottish Labour

The usual monkey with a red rosette was elected by the voters of this working class Glasgow constituency in the lowest turnout ever recorded for a Holyrood election.

The Labour candidates' plea for voters not to punish the Labour Party for its criminal deceits, willful warmongering and appallingly stupid MSP's was heeded by the electorate although the party did not escape completely unscathed. Its share of the vote fell sharply, a fate it shared with the SSP.

In what may come to be seen as one of the stupidest political moves of recent times, (in a country where political intelligence in not in strong supply, being amongst the stupidest is an achievement of mind-boggling ineptitude) the SSP ditched a leader who was seen in some quarters as the most charismatic MSP in Holyrood and replaced him with a Socialist Worker type Trotskyist-with-a-personality-bypass. Accordingly, in what should have been ideal territory for them, the SSP's vote fell through the floor.

The SNP had a moderate showing, slightly increasing their share of the vote.

The real winner was the public. Almost 70% were disinclined to vote.

Scottish politicians have done an incredible job. After 300 years of agitation for a return to some form of autonomy, within six years of having achieved that objective, seven in ten voters really couldn't give a rats arse who represents them.

Truly there is something rotten in the state of Scottish politics.
